Welcome to the new [temporary] website for Sierra Working Dogs. Sierra Working Dogs is a partnership between Wenatchee German Shepherds (Jim and Julie Barnes) and Walburga German Shepherds (Mike and Cherie Flores) and Widerhall German Shepherds (Wendy Kirk). For those of you that have been here before, we obvsiously have a new look!
As many of you know, our links have become more difficult to access due to upgrades in technology requirements for websites and our website, was, well, ahem behind the times shall we say! We are working to design a whole new website with as much information (and more) than our previous website....but in the meantime we need something while our website designer works on the new website!
We won't have as many pictures or articles for the next couple of months, but rest assured, we are working hard to bring you a new website compliant with todays website code with a lot of exciting new features!
Sierra Working Dogs is a group of working German Shepherd enthusiasts who both train and breed litters of working prospect GSD’s who can live in a family environment. Wenatchee GSD, Widerhall GSD, and Walburga GSD, do not make a living from dogs and breed only a small number of litters.
We are guided by many of the principles put forth by Capt. Max von Stephanitz, who is given credit for forming the dog we know today as the "German Shepherd Dog". His philosophy regarding the German Shepherd Dog can be found in the book "The German Shepherd Dog in Word and Pictures". In this book, written nearly 80 years ago the Captain wrote:
"The breeding of shepherd dogs is the breeding of working dogs; and this must always be the aim, or we shall cease to produce shepherd dogs."
This philosophy guides us in what we do today. In each puppy that we produce, we strive to better the breed with the principles set forth so many years ago.
NEW LITTERS COMING 2009/2010
We are pleased to announce that we were so excited about our "D" litter Hexe vom Treuhaus x Hannes Spadener Holz that we are doing it again! Mike and Hexe are currently in Washington (October 14) waiting for just the right day for Hexe and Hannes to have their date! If all goes well, we expect to have pups on the ground in mid-December 2009. We already have signficant interest in this litter based on the last litter. If you think you are interested give us a call!
